After a long day, it’s not easy to spend an hour cooking dinner for your hungry children. You want to finish making them food as quickly as they want to eat.But you don’t necessarily want to make them the same meals every week. That’s why we have three quick and easy dinner recipes that your children are sure to enjoy.
The Chicken And Waffle Sandwich
Two of kids’ favorite foods, plus bacon, makes for a great meal that they probably have never had. This recipe serves two. Source
Ingredients:
- 4 frozen waffles
- 2 slices of bacon
- 1½ tablespoons canola mayonnaise
- ½ tablespoon low-fat buttermilk
- ½ teaspoon cider vinegar
- ⅛ teaspoon sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
- A pinch of freshly ground black pepper
- 3 ounces of thinly sliced chicken breast
- 4 (¼ inch) slices of ripe tomato
- 2 Boston lettuce leaves
Preparation:
- Toast waffles to preference
- Cook bacon in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until crisp
- Upon completion, dab bacon with paper towels to remove grease
- Combine mayonnaise, buttermilk, cider vinegar, sugar, garlic powder and pepper in a bowl
- Spread sauce evenly over each waffle and add chicken, bacon, lettuce and tomato
Chicken (Finger) Parmesan
Not many dinners are as easy to make as chicken fingers or pasta. When you combine these two meals, you get a creative dish that’s quick, simple and different from the standard dinner you could make in less than 20 minutes. Source
Ingredients:
- 4 frozen chicken fingers
- 16-ounce box of pasta (preferably spaghetti)
- 1 cup grated Italian cheese blend or mozzarella
- 24 ounces of pasta sauce
Preparation:
- Cook chicken fingers as instructed by the package
- While chicken is cooking, prepare the pasta
- Warm pasta sauce
- Cut up chicken fingers once cooked
- Put pasta in a dish and top with chicken, sauce and cheese
The Pizza Hot Dog
Pizza? Hot dogs? Combine two foods most kids love to make one unique meal that’s easy to prepare and that your children are likely to ask for again and again. Source
Ingredients:
- 4 hot dogs
- 4 hot dog buns
- ½ cup of pasta sauce
- 4 ounces of mozzarella
- ¼ cup of basil leaves
Preparation:
- Heat your broiler or grill to medium-high heat
- Cook hot dogs in a toaster oven or a pot of boiling water
- After hot dogs are cooked, place each in a bun, and top with mozzarella and pasta sauce
- Put covered hot dogs on the grill and cover (or broil) for no more than two minutes (until your mozzarella has melted)
- Remove hot dogs and top with basil leaves
